Keep in mind that some people don't realise that having a web site hosted only gives it a place to live, run, whatever it needs to perform, however it does not give it a domain name (www.whatever.com), We do also allow very inexpensive yearly solutions for domain names, and we have options for subdomaining (ex. www.yourname.umstudios.com) at NO additional cost.

Q. Where can I download a free FTP?
A. We recommend downloading WS FTP from here. We have also had good experience with CuteFTP, and if you don't wish to download any additional software, you CAN use the latest version of Internet Explorer to access your sites FTP, however permissions options may not be reliable and this method is reccomended for basic file transfer only..
Q. It's not letting me upload my files what's wrong?
A. Make sure you are uploading to the right web directory which is the public_html folder. Files uploaded to the public_ftp folder are not web page accessable, and are intended for clients wanting FTP server access (which is probably also included in your account if you want it). files uploaded directly into your account and not into the public_html folder, will not be live on your site and will be privately stored for you, this still counts toward your webspace quota, however we do not only allow this, we encourage this as a great place to store small but important files that you don't want publicly available to the internet but need to keep backed up away from home.

Subdomains
Q. READ THIS BEFORE SETTING UP A SUBDOMAIN!
A. To create a sub domain cpanel asks for the name you wish to use.
MAKE SURE the subdomain name you give it doesn't have a folder already named that name.
If it does the sub will not work.
Example... I want to create the subdomain test.hostgator.com so my sub name is going to be test.
If I already have a folder in my ftp named test I need to delete it or rename it to
something different before I create the subdomain with the test name from cpanel.
Q. What is a subdomain?
A. If you were to purchase a domain name for your site. Say, www.umstudios.com. "umstudios" would be your domain name. "www" would be the subdomain. "WWW", "FTP", "MAIL" are default subdomains that quite often point to the same server as the domain. However our Cpanel software allows you to host several different websites using multiple subdomains, where "www.umstudios.com" might be a primary site, "www2.umstudios.com" or "dyndns.umstudios.com" might be extra sites, services, or programs.
Addon Domains
Q. What is an addon domain?
A. An addon domain is a fully functional domain that will work out of a folder in your main sites ftp. Similar to how Subdomains work, except that a new domain is pointing to it.
Q. READ THIS BEFORE SETTING UP AN ADDON DOMAIN!You cannot create an addon domain if your dns hasn't proprograted to the server already.
So after you change the sites dns you are trying to add you will need to wait 24-48 hours before attempting to create your addon domain.A. There are three fields cpanel asks for when creating an addon domain.1. "New Domain Name:" You will put in the newdomain.com do not put www in the name!2. "Username/directory/subdomain Name:" This will be the folder cpanel creates in your main accounts ftp.
MAKE SURE that the name you give it doesn't already have a folder.
Example... If you want to give it the username chris. You cannot have a folder in your account named chris already.
If you do and still try creating the username for the addon domain to be chris you will mess a lot of things up!!! 3. "Password:" fill in any password you want here.
Q. Help I added an addon domain why did it say subdomain added?!!?
A. It creates it as a subdomain by creating the folder within your main sites ftp. Please ignore this! It is a fully functional domain name.
It is only called a subdomain when in fact it is an addon domain
